A cargo ship collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, causing sections of the bridge to collapse and numerous vehicles to fall into the river.
Video footage circulating on social media captured the moment a large cargo ship struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge around 1:30 a.m. on March 26, causing successive sections of the bridge to collapse into the Patapsco River.
At least 20 individuals and several vehicles plunged into the river as a result of the incident. The ship also caught fire following the collision.
Authorities identified the vessel involved in the incident as the Dali. According to data from the MarineTraffic website, the Dali is a Singapore-flagged container ship en route from the port of Baltimore to Colombo, Sri Lanka.
