After a brief rain shower, many areas in the city experienced some relief from the scorching heat following
On the morning of May 2nd, dark clouds gathered, casting a gloomy sky and bringing rain to central areas of the city, including Districts Bình Thạnh, Phú Nhuận, 12, and Hóc Môn. The rain lasted for about 5 minutes, catching many people by surprise. Some who hadn't brought umbrellas sought shelter under awnings, causing delays in commuting and taking children to school. The rain made the roads slippery, leading to some motorcyclists falling on Võ Văn Kiệt street and the Cộng Hòa roundabout in District 1.
By 8 a.m., the rain had eased, but the sky remained overcast, with no sunlight, resulting in a 3-4°C drop in temperature, providing relief from the oppressive heat after several days of intense sunshine. Since late March, residents of the city have endured the longest heatwave in nearly 30 years, although temperatures have not reached historic highs.
