Lý thuyết câu so sánh trong tiếng Anh
Câu so sánh được sử dụng để so sánh hai hoặc nhiều sự vật, hiện tượng, hoặc khái niệm với nhau về một khía cạnh nhất định nào đó (kích thước, ngoại hình, chất lượng, số lượng...).
Dưới đây đã tổng hợp cụ thể các loại so sánh phổ biến nhất kèm cấu trúc và ví dụ minh họa.
1. So sánh bằng
So sánh bằng với tính từ và trạng từ
S1 + be + as + Adj/Adv + as + O2
So sánh bằng với danh từ
S1 + V + as + many/much/little/few + N + as + S2
So sánh bằng với “the same”
S + V + the same + N + as + S2
2. So sánh hơn
So sánh hơn với tính từ và trạng từ ngắn
S + V/tobe + Adj/Adv + -er + than + O
So sánh hơn với tính từ và trạng từ dài
S + V/tobe + more + Adj/Adv + than + O
So sánh hơn với tính từ và trạng từ bất quy tắc
S + V/tobe + Adj/Adv (bất quy tắc) + than + O
3. So sánh nhất
So sánh nhất với tính từ và trạng từ ngắn
Một số trạng từ ngắn phổ biến thường gặp: fast (nhanh), hard (hết sức cố gắng), soon (sớm), early (sớm), late (muộn)....
S + be + the + Adj/Adv + -est + N
So sánh nhất với tính từ và trạng từ dài
Một số trạng từ dài phổ biến thường gặp: carefully (cẩn thận), happily (vui), sadly (buồn), slowly (chậm), quickly (nhanh), beautifully (đẹp đẽ),...
S + be + the most + Adj/Adv + N
So sánh nhất với tính từ và trạng từ bất quy tắc
Một số trạng từ bất quy tắc phổ biến thường gặp: well (tốt), badly (xấu), little (ít), far (xa).
S + be + the + Adj/Adv (bất quy tắc) + N
4. So sánh kép
So sánh kép với tính từ và trạng từ
Cấu trúc “Comparative And Comparative” (càng ngày càng): dùng để mô tả sự kiện hoặc hiện tượng ngày càng mang một tính chất nhất định nhiều hơn.
Tính từ/Trạng từ ngắn: S + V + Adj/Adv-er and Adj/Adv-er
Tính từ/Trạng từ dài: S + V + more and more + Adj/Adv
Cấu trúc “The comparative…the comparative…” (càng…thì càng…): dùng để diễn tả sự tăng hoặc giảm tương ứng, để nói rằng khi một vật nào đó tăng hoặc giảm thì sẽ khiến cho vật khác thay đổi
Tính từ/Trạng từ ngắn: The + Adj/Adv-er + S + V, the Adj/Adv-er + S + V
Tính từ/Trạng từ dài: The more + Adj/Adv + S + V, the more Adj/Adv + S + V
So sánh kép với danh từ
Cấu trúc so sánh kép còn có thể được sử dụng với danh từ để thể hiện sự tăng dần về số lượng của danh từ đó.

So sánh bội
So sánh bội là là dạng so sánh về số lần. Bạn có thể đong đếm sự khác biệt (lớn hơn, nhỏ hơn) của đặc điểm bằng con số.
Gấp 2 lần: S + V + twice + as + much/many/adj/adv + (N) + as + O
Gấp từ 3 lần trở lên: S + V + số đếm (three, four…) times + as + much/many/adj/adv + (N) + as + O
